How to Heal from Heartbreak
LAYOUT + CONCEPT CREATION
The Challenge
To conceptualize a magazine spread that explores various design styles, content formats, and key elements integral to successful magazine layouts.
The Process
I saw this project as a chance to blend my love for both analog and digital art. Inspired by a poem from Notes on Shapeshifting by Gabi Abrao, I created an art magazine-style listicle on healing from heartbreak.
For the title page, I carved a linocut of the Three of Swords tarot card, which, to put it simply, symbolizes heartbreak. I hand-carved and inked the image before scanning it into my design.
I chose a bold, monochromatic red color scheme to capture the themes of love and desire. To give it a unique and dramatic touch, I used a handwritten, stamp-style typeface.
